Get Your Running Shoes On!

In honor of my first race over the weekend (Quarter Marathon in the Cap City Half), I am now making an effort to participate in one race per month in Columbus until the Columbus Marathon where I plan to do my first half marathon. A great perk of living in the city, most of the races start or finish right at my front door!

Here’s my monthly race list for the Summer.

1.) Pet Promise Rescue Run

Unfortunately, I’ll be out of town this weekend but I encourage anyone with a dog to participate in this 5k. It’s for a great cause and looks like a blast.

2) Columbus 10K

Considered “The Oldest Road Race in Columbus”.

3) The Color Run

This has to be one of the most fun races I’ve ever heard of. My niece actually told me about it and after I looked it up, I couldn’t say no! Running around the city getting color thrown all over sounds like the best Saturday morning in the Summer!

4) Dog Jog

Another dog friendly race throughout downtown Columbus. Since Jaxson and I can’t make it to the Rescue Run, we will have to put this on our calendars.

5) Columbus Marathon

There is a cap of 7k marathoners and 11k 1/2 marathoners and event sells out each year. I hope to work on my training before this and make it through the 1/2 marathon!

Are you going to be running any races this Summer?

Great job on the Quarter. I love the Cap City race. You’ll like the Columbus 10K. I’ve run it several times and the crew from the Columbus Running Company do a great job putting it on. Not sure I’ll be ready to run it yet but I will be there to cheer everyone on.

The Columbus Marathon and half marathon are also wonderful races. I have run the half and the full there a couple of times and running in your home town race is certainly a fun experience. The half runs through some really nice areas of town so you will enjoy it. I do plan to his the half this fall assuming my body holds together.

Thanks Michael! I admire how much you run and all of the marathons you have participated in. It’s quite an accomplishment and not only is it a wonderful benefit to your health but makes you feel great inside when you cross that finish line! I am really looking forward to trying the half this year. Hope to see you there.

As I think you read on the blog, running and I have been at odds lately…but I also feel like I need to get back into it. I always feel better, happier, healthier when I run. I ran a very slow 5K this weekend at Cap City, but I’m hoping that I’ll be back on my feet for the Nationwide Half this fall. There will be a couple of 5Ks this summer, I think, that I’m going to try to do!

Love that photo of you and the boyfriend!

I agree, running makes me feel much happier and healthier. The best kind of addiction though. If you ever want to someone to run with, let me know! I love running with new people and new routes! Good luck on the training. I’m sure you’ll be great.

And thanks, we felt like goobers in that pictures but I was so proud of us, I had to put it up.

The Color Run is going to be a blast! We should definitely meet up. If you are ever in need of a downtown running buddy on weekend mornings, text me! I’d love to train with you for the 1/2 in Oct.

I love that you’re blogging. The end. 🙂

Me too Allie! Thanks so much for all of our help on the design side. It wouldn’t be pretty without you!

You’ve gotta make the Indy Mini-Marathon a priority sometime. It’s the largest half-marathon in the nation. 35k runners this year. It’s a massive blast, with a lap around the Indy 500 track.

I don’t always run a half-marathon, but when I do, I run it in Indianapolis.
